Medium: Mixed media on paper
Media: Watercolour, ink, silver sticker paper, origami paper, twine
In this first art therapy session, just figuring out what to create took me 3 days.
Letting go. That’s one of the hardest things for me right now. Letting go of perfectionism, of control, of the programming from my upbringing, of all the bullshit societal norms I’ve carried without even realising. Learning to go with the flow, to work with life as it is — which, honestly, is already perfect.
Because when we release, when we stop fighting against it, life can open up and become something far more beautiful than we were trying to force. At least that's what I'm trying to remember when I start gripping again.
Note to self: should’ve used chrome vinyl instead of silver printable paper so it actually reflects. I almost ripped the page out to start over, but forced myself to live with it. Painfully. Baby steps, amirite? Guess this art therapy thing might be working.

About #BlankCanvas
This art therapy series started as me trying to draw my way out of… whatever the hell I’ve been feeling lately. The idea is simple: just dumping my brain into a sketchbook to see if it helps me heal, or at least feel a bit less shit.
Maybe I’ll stumble into some big revelation. Maybe it’s just weird pages. I honestly don’t fucking know. But it’s my way of letting go, seeing where the lines take me, and rolling with it.
If you’re in the same headspace, join me in this experiment of self-discovery through art. Grab a sketchbook, turn to a blank page, and create something — anything. Then share it in the comments or tag me in a note. I’d love to see what comes out of your mess too.
And if you ever feel like nudging me to keep going — whether it’s grabbing my book, becoming a paid subscriber, or a warm virtual hug — just know you’re doing more than covering coffee. It’s those little jolts that make the oversharing less terrifying. And some days, that’s everything.

You and @michelle buck are on to something.
Hugs to you, Billie! This is incredible work. Sending love and appreciation. ❤️🩹🙏
